Bolton Scholarship 2010/11

The Amount

£750 will be paid to the student over the academic year irrespective of the family's financial means.

Eligibility for Scholarship

* The student must be classed as a "new" undergraduate student at University of Bolton* being charged £3,290 tuition fees. Fees must be paid via tuition fee loan or student must be self funded.

* The student must be classed as a Home Student
* The student must have successfully completed a Level 3 qualification (e.g. A-Levels) at the partner institution or an approved course of study (e.g. Access Course) at the University of Bolton.
* The student has firmly accepted an offer of a place on a full time course by 1st August. In the event that the student has not done this despite filling other criteria for the Scholarship please see "Second Semester Scholarship".

Applying for the Scholarship

The Scholarship application process is automatically done internally by the University. However students must have completed a student funding application available from www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance |, regardless of whether applying for other support.

Payment dates

Students will receive payment in two separate instalments subject to continuing and satisfactory attendance on the course. The payments will be as follows

End of Semester 1 (Jan 2011) - £375

End of Semester 2 (May 2011) - £375

Scholarship payments will be terminated if the student withdraws, transfers to another institution or fails their programme of study. Scholarship payments will be suspended if a student interrupts their studies

Scholarships will not be paid to students undertaking industrial or work experience on a full time "sandwich" basis. Students studying abroad also will not be eligible to receive the Scholarship.

Second Semester Scholarship

The Second Semester Scholarship has been created for those students who fulfil all the eligibility criteria of the Bolton Scholarship but were unable to confirm their place before the 1st August. These students in their first year only will receive the Second Semester Scholarship of £375 which will be paid in full upon completion of the year (May 2011). After the students first year of study they will be switched onto the "Bolton Scholarship" scheme and thereafter will be eligible for the full £750 for subsequent years.

* Clearing Students
* Students who currently hold us as an Insurance Offer
* Late applicants who only confirm after the 1st August

February Scholarship

For February starters the scholarship will still be available. The eligibility criteria remains the same.

Payment Dates will be the end of May 2011 and the end of January 2012

Please note all figures quoted for the 2010/11 academic year are approximate.

*The scholarship will be paid to first, not subsequent equivalent or lower level HE courses only.
